DOLL EXPERT: I am a doll expert/advocate who increases diversity and inclusion internationally by supporting diverse doll creators through sharing their dolls and products with groups interested in learning about and purchasing their items. My support includes facilitating collaborations between doll professionals and manufacturers.

I also work with groups who donate Black dolls in the US, Britain, and Africa. Though most of my work is focused on increasing the number of dolls that represent children of color, I also support the LGBTQ+ community by giving them a platform for educate people about their cultures and concerns.

Niya™ Doll: Darla Davenport-Powell became a history-making doll creator. In 1984 she released Niya™, the first African-American doll to speak English, Spanish, and Swahili.

Darla's latest goal is to release a new, more interactive Niya, a line of Niya doll friends, and media to share their wonderful adventures.
